It is a good idea to register your own name at .name, but it is still a better idea to register generic terms. Seach engines like Google rank your listing higher if a keyword from a search is in your domain name. You can get these names with .name when they are not available in .com.

If John Smith should be unsucessfully attempt to register john.smith.name,
he may seek to register
john.smith2001.name
or john2002.smith.name.
The price of a .name-domain is 60 US-Dollar per year.
There is a second product availabe for third level .name-domains : e-mail forwarding. This product has the form (first name)@
(last name).name. An example is john@smith.name. It costs also 60 US-Dollar per year.
The advantage of this e-mail forwarding is tremendous: Everybody can write an e-mail to you,
if your name is known.
You must have an existing e-mail box, as the e-mails are forwarded to it. You can only receive e-mails by
this address, not send them.
The e-mail forwarding is an additionally offer. You must order a .name-domain to use it, but
you must not order e-mail forwarding, if you order a .name-domain.
